Fruit flies

It seems when you leave large amounts of grapes out for several days, you create large amounts of fruit flies. A week ago, we had a swarm. After 7 straight days of compulsive cleanliness, we are down to a half-dozen flies left.

Luckily no children decided they were disgusting enough that they had to move out for a week. Alyssa calmly informed me on one occasion, "there are fruit bugs in my bathroom". Where there are "fruit bugs" there must be grapes, and lo and behold, we found grapes in the garbage. So after emptying every garbage in the house, wiping down every surface in the house, making a couple of fruit fly traps, and even swatting a few ... whew! we are down to our last 6.

I believe I've learned what the word "diligence" finally means.

P.S: A fruit fly trap is a plastic cup filled with ketchup with saran wrap over the top and fork holes poked in it. The flies go in and but don't come out.
